E-tutor - India's first cloud-based tablet launched

India's first cloud-based tablet known as "E-tutor tablet" has been launched for students of classes 1st to 12th in Thiruvananthapuram by Sam Pitroda(advisor to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh). If you want to buy this cloud based tablet, "E Tutor" which is a collaboration of Technopark-based e-tutor and Oztern Technology, it can be purchased for Rs. 7500 starting April 2012.

It is seen as the tablet with still a higher price tag as compared to Aakash tablet which is costing Rs. 2999 but in terms of quality and internet connectivity, it could be a major boost for the education sector.

The E tutor tablet has been designed keeping in mind the safety of children while using internet. According to Wikipedia, "Cloud computing is the delivery of computing as a service rather than a product, whereby shared resources, software, and information are provided to computers and other devices as a metered service over a network (typically the Internet)".

As most of the hi-tech products in education sector act as teaching aids instead of learning aids, Cloud computing through E tutor tablet helps in reducing the carbon emissions making a clean and green environment. Lessons updates can come up through a unique cloud based sync with the device making sure of connecting to targeted locations. Students can easily learn the lessons and updates, all the things that was taught in the school.
